Selected Works

Odipus der tyrann (2021 – 2024)

A three-movement work based on Hölderlin’s Ödipus der Tyrann, in 13-limit just intonation. Here is the first movement, for seven musicians and based on a seven-note scale. The forces expand to twelve musicians/notes in the second movement, and nineteen musicians/notes in the final movement. The complete work will be performed at the DiMenna Center in New York City in BeComEnsemble’s 2025-2026 season.

Songs from the seventh floor (2022)

A dream of Monteverdi’s musical and poetic world, an unrecoverable paradise. In just intonation. Performed multiple times by JACK Quartet.

Fallen Leaves (2024)

A string quartet in five sections – Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall. Loosely inspired by a shot in Kaurismäki’s 2023 film Fallen Leaves.

String Quartet no. 2 (2020)

In two movements, the first mournful and otherworldly (7-limit just intonation), the second joyful and spontaneous (standard tuning).
